
Education for Underprivileged Children
On 20th April, 2003, Diya Foundation commenced operations by setting up ‘Chetan Vidya Mandir' a school for the slum children at Nihal Vihar, New Delhi. The school was started in a one room rented accommodation with 20 students. In March 2004, land was purchased for new school building of Chetan Vidya Mandir. In July, 2005 Chetan Vidya Mandir shifted to its own new school building and now has on its rolls 260 students who are being provided education, mid day meals, uniforms, bags, stationery and regular health check-ups.
Providing Healthcare to the Underprivileged
Diya Foundation in association with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital organizes free medical check-up camps for underprivileged people. Mobile Vans from SGRH came with a team of doctors and facilities like ECG, blood pressure, blood sugar check-up and medical counseling was provided to the patients.
Till today Diya has organized more than 100 camps, where almost 20, 000 people have been diagnosed and also provided them counseling on life style skills.
Diya Foundation has also organized several AIDS Awareness and De-addiction drives, campaigns performing street shows in Nihal Vihar area to make local people aware about the AIDS and evils of drug addiction.
Eye and heart surgeries have been sponsored to save eye sight of the children.
Caring for the aged and destitute
The old is our legacy. The wrinkles, the gnarled hands and the white hair tell us about the time gone by. As senior citizens, they too have every right to live in peace and dignity.
