I have great pleasure in sending this message on the occassion of the Fourth anniversary of the founding of the Diya Foundation. This Foundation has been working purposefully, and with excellent results, to help slum children in our Capital. The Foundation provides free education and health care facilities for them. It organizes free medical check-up camps for the underpriviliged including its support to several old age homes. Its project of running its school called :Diya Vidya Mandir" (DVM) for the slum children in New Delhi where these children receives basic education, free mid-day meals and medical check-up has been functioning with eminent success. The Foundation also makes a successful effort to impart moral values to these children, andto help them grow up as responsible citizens of our democratic, secular, egalitarian and multicultural society and nation.
One could not have expected anything less than this from Padma Shree Dr. S.C. Manchanda, our eminent and nationally and internationally renowned Cardiologist.

It gives me immense pleasure to know that "Diya" Foundation is organizing a concert and charity dinner on 5th May, 2007 to raise funds for its charitable activities, which include construction of a new school for the underprivileged children.
Providing quality education to the underprivileged children to enable them to stand on their feet and to serve the nation with sincerity and dedication should be the objective of one and all. Service to the poor and needy children is service to God. It should be our endeavour to bring out the hidden talent of these children. Effort should also be made to provide educational facilities to the needy and poor children living in remote and far-flung areas.
I am also happy to learn that DIYA Foundation is already working in this direction and providing dedicated services for the betterment of children belonging to the weaker sectiosn of our society.
I convey my best wishes for the success of the cause and endeavour of the organization.
